Sustainability
Over the past years, sustainability has become a priority issue for Pearle* and its members. Lots of action is happening in the different European countries to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the live performance sector and Pearle* provides guidance in different policy areas linked to sustainable development to help ensure the green transition of live performance organisations.

Given the urgent matter of the climate crisis and the need to find environmentally friendly solutions when organising live performances, Pearle* looks into different sustainability topics and relevant policy issues linked to the EU Green Deal.

This includes circular economy topics, such as the recycling of textiles and technical materials, energy saving in buildings and energy efficiency requirements of stage lights and when renovating, sustainable dissemination and mobility schemes, and sustainable funding and finances.

In spring 2023, Pearle* in partnership with EFA published the first edition of a new cookbook series on “The EU Green Deal and Live Performance organisations”.

The cookbook helps artists and live performance organisations to navigate the jungle of EU law and the numerous initiatives related to the Green Deal. It gears day-to-day activities towards European climate targets and makes organisations understand how they can substantially contribute to those goals.
